Prevention of Mother-to-Child HIV Transmission (PMTCT)
SERVICES PROVIDED
Provide family planning counseling and commodities to both men and women and ensure women who are HIV-positive and choose to become pregnant are supported in their pregnancy journey to ensure their child is HIV-free
Provide pregnant women with HIV testing and counseling, create access to HIV prevention, care, and treatment services
Provide lifelong antiretroviral treatment (ART) to HIV-positive women to prevent transmission of HIV to their infants in current and all future pregnancies
Educate and support breastfeeding mothers to ensure safe and appropriate infant feeding practices
ACCOMPLISHMENTS
Provided over 32 million women with access to services to prevent vertical transmission of HIV to their babies
Averted HIV infections in over 100,000 children
Reproductive and Maternal and Child Health
SERVICES PROVIDED
Keep infants and children healthy by providing infant and young child feeding support, and care and follow-up of HIV-exposed infants
Train health care providers in basic emergency maternal obstetric and newborn care, integrated management of childhood illnesses, and HIV prevention, care and treatment
Provide support for and linkages to family planning and reproductive health services
Integrate HIV services within maternal and child health clinics
Create greater access to sexual and gender-based violence prevention and treatment services
Increase access to cervical cancer, a leading cause of death among HIV-positive women, screening and treatment
ACCOMPLISHMENTS
EGPAF has worked to improve MNCH services in over 15,000 health facilities since our inception by increasing the capacity of health workers
Met the family planning needs of nearly 1,900,000 individuals across our supported countries
Created access to cervical cancer screening to nearly 40,000 women in Lesotho alone
EGPAF supported six sites in Cameroon to provide post-violence care to 235 survivors of sexual and gender-based violence – this project also managed to ensure 73% of eligible survivors were given post-exposure HIV prophylaxis and counseling
TB and Other Opportunistic Infections
SERVICES PROVIDED
Recognizing that HIV-positive populations are particularly affected by TB and other infections such as malaria and certain cancers, EGPAF offers integrated services inclusive of OI testing alongside HIV care.
Through the Catalyzing Pediatric Tuberculosis Innovations (CaP TB) project, focuses on improving the TB screening process in infants and children and accelerating access to new child-friendly treatment formulations in 10 countries

Lifelong Care and Treatment: From Childhood to Adulthood

ACCOMPLISHMENTS
In the last year alone, EGPAF programs tested over 6,000,000 individuals for HIV
EGPAF is currently providing over 1.8 million people, including nearly 90,000 children, with lifesaving ART through its programs
In the past year, EGPAF has given nearly 1.8 million adolescents and youth access to HIV testing and counseling and we currently support nearly 180,000 adolescents and youth on ART
We’re improving access to more effective, globally-recommended and palatable HIV treatment formulations for children
Health Systems Strengthening
SERVICES PROVIDED
Strengthen human resource practices by assisting ministries of health to develop effective human resources management systems
Improve leadership and governance by providing targeted technical assistance to ministries of health and building the capacity of local organizations and national health programs
Strengthen health management information systems to collect, review, analyze, and use data to ensure evidence-based decision making
Strengthen the supply chain and reduce stock-outs by mentoring pharmacy staff to improve forecasting, quantification, and timely ordering of drugs and other commodities

Improve the quality of services delivered through training and supportive supervision
Through its Project DELTA, EGPAF has expanded technical assistance to ministries of health in 11 countries to enhance national initiatives on pediatric HIV testing, ARV resistance surveillance, and community involvement in PMTCT service quality

Health Emergency Preparedness

EGPAF has long reacted to pandemic threats and, in so doing, has worked with ministries of health at each level of the health system through virtual trainings, customizing differentiated service delivery health services, etc. to mitigate these threats
