Long COVID

Resources + Tools

Overview

Long COVID is a condition characterized by the continuation or development of new symptoms in individuals who had previously been infected with Serious Acute Respiratory Coronavirus-2 (SARS-CoV-2), the virus that causes Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19 disease). It can also be defined as new, returning, or ongoing symptoms and health problems in the weeks or months after a SARS-CoV-2 infection. It typically manifests around 3 months from the onset of COVID-19 symptoms and is characterized by symptoms that persist for at least 2 months, with no other explanation for these symptoms.

As we learn more about this emerging condition, EGPAF partnered with the Ministry of Health in Kenya to educate the public about Long COVID. The resources developed are design for lay audiences and can be used by clinicians to support their patients.
