Health Seeking Behaviors of Pregnant Women in Rwanda

Contributing Factors towards High Drop-out of Pregnant Women Between the 1st and 4th ANC Visit

Overview

Country:

Rwanda

Subject Matter:

Maternal, Newborn, and Child Health; PMTCT and HIV-free Survival

This USAID-funded exploratory study documented the reasons why pregnant women came late to antenatal care (ANC), why they came for fewer than four visits, and what proportion of pregnancies among known HIV-positive women were planned in Rwanda. It also explored the association between the number of ANC visits and place of delivery (home vs. facility).
