This CDC-funded retrospective evaluation used a secondary analysis of routinely collected aggregate and patient-level program data to assess prevention of mother-to-child transmission (PMTCT) interventions and outcomes in Homa Bay County, Kenya among HIV-positive pregnant and breastfeeding women and their HIV-exposed infants. The evaluation tracked the HIV-related health outcomes and identified relationships between demographic, clinical, and program factors and these health outcomes. Results were used to guide revisions to national and local health strategies and policies in optimizing service delivery for pregnant and breastfeeding mothers and their infants.
