Washington, D.C.—June 25, 2019—The Elizabeth Glaser Pediatric AIDS Foundation (EGPAF) is pleased to announce that Jack Leslie, Chairman of Weber Shandwick, has been elected as Chairman of its Board of Directors. Leslie replaces Russ Hagey who has served as Chairman since 2012.
“We thank Russ for his service to the Foundation leading our Board of Directors and are thrilled to welcome Jack Leslie into his new role as Chairman,” said Chip Lyons, President and CEO of EGPAF. “Throughout his tenure on our Board, Jack’s decades of expertise and dedication have been immense assets to EGPAF’s mission to end AIDS in children. We look forward to working with him in the coming years to continue driving progress for children, youth, and vulnerable populations infected with and affected by HIV/AIDS.”
“I am so proud of the impact EGPAF has around the world. Having had the opportunity to visit our country programs in Tanzania and Lesotho, I have seen firsthand the lifesaving work being done,” said Leslie. “I am eager to continue working with the Foundation, especially at such a critical time in the global AIDS response. Now is the time to recommit to our efforts if we hope to see the first AIDS-free generation in my lifetime.”
In 2003, Leslie was appointed by President Bush to serve on the Board of Directors of the U.S. African Development Foundation and named Chairman of the Board by President Obama in 2009. He was re-confirmed for the position by the U.S. Senate in 2016. That same year, Leslie joined EGPAF’s Board of Directors stepping in as Chair of the External Affairs and Business Development Committee. The two-year term as Chairman begins in June.
