December 14, 2012, Washington, D.C. – The Elizabeth Glaser Pediatric AIDS Foundation welcomes the news that U.S. Global AIDS Ambassador Eric Goosby will be leading the newly created Global Health Diplomacy Office. The new office will support global health programs and encourage sustainable and cooperative efforts to solve problems and strengthen investments in global health.  In addition to his new role, Ambassador Goosby will continue to serve as United States Global AIDS Coordinator and run PEPFAR (President’s Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief) .

“For more than thirty years, Ambassador Goosby has been a stalwart champion in the battle to eliminate HIV/AIDS and create an ‘AIDS-free generation’,” Foundation President and CEO Charles Lyons said.  “The work that Ambassador Goosby does every day running PEPFAR – working in country with U.S. missions and national governments to build effective, country-led HIV/AIDS programs – makes him uniquely well-suited for this new role.  On behalf of the Foundation, I congratulate Ambassador Goosby on his appointment, and I look forward to working together with him and with the Global Health Diplomacy Office.”
