2024 World Health Assembly (WHA 77)

The World Health Assembly is the decision-making body of WHO. It is attended by delegations from all WHO Member States and focuses on a specific health agenda prepared by the Executive Board. The Health Assembly is held annually in Geneva, Switzerland.

EGPAF will be attending several side events around the main meetings to advocate for increased political attention and actions towards child health and access to better services for children. Working with civil society stakeholders, other partners in Global Health and African member states, EGPAF will ensure children have a voice at this important meeting.

Achieving Better Health for Children – Leadership and Accountability for Access to #BetterMeds4Kids

The objective of this event is to have a dialogue among key stakeholders about how to strengthen and sustain political attention and accountability at the multilateral regional and national levels on innovation and access to essential medicines for children. In light of the 2024 WHA resolution on “Acceleration towards SDG targets for maternal mortality and child mortality ” and other existing commitments related to clinical trials and access in forgotten populations, maternal, newborn and child health access to medicines including the WHA 69.20 to mobilize leadership around debates on taking place at WHA 77.

World Health Assembly Side Event Celebrating People-centered Care as the Key to Achieving Universal Health Coverage

Demonstrate the importance of people-centered care (PCC) as a core key strategy in strengthening health systems and primary healthcare to address ending inequalities in access to services and ultimately achieving universal health coverage; to convey the urgent need to correct the imbalance of power in which people with lived experience are too often left out of decision making and inspire global health leaders to take action to increase support for the meaningful engagement of affected communities. The event will feature thoughtfully curated artworks demonstrating people-centered care and include a call to action for the EGPAF Illustration Competition.
