Nigel Barker Leads Pledge for an AIDS-free Generation

Celebrity photographer and filmmaker Nigel Barker and his wife, Cristen, are inviting families in New York and around the world to pledge their commitment to an AIDS-free generation.

On Saturday, Sept. 27, the couple will co-chair the Elizabeth Glaser Pediatric AIDS Foundation’s 20th Kids 4 Kids family festival at the Field House at Chelsea Piers in New York City. At the event, families will learn about our lifesaving work while enjoying gourmet food, arts and crafts, games, sports, and music.

Other celebrities expected to attend Kids 4 Kids include lifestyle maven Martha Stewart, cast members from Netflix’s “Orange Is the New Black” and FOX’s “Gotham,” fashion designer Cynthia Rowley, Olympic swimmers Matt Targett and Conor Dwyer, TV personality Cat Greenleaf, and actress and EGPAF celebrity ambassador Fatima Ptacek. Bluegrass band Seven Handle Circus will also give a live performance. 

Nigel became involved with the Elizabeth Glaser Pediatric AIDS Foundation (EGPAF) after attending the 2007 Kids 4 Kids festival. Now, as an EGPAF board member, he continues to be a passionate advocate for ending AIDS in children.

“When you realize that 700 children are being born each day HIV-positive … that number is obviously way too high, and we need to do something about it,” Nigel said in his latest interview with ARISE TV. Watch the rest of the interview, in which he explains his commitment to children.

EGPAF’s longtime partner, Jewelers for Children, will donate $1 for every person who joins Nigel in this pledge. Better yet, Jewelers for Children will match donations made by pledge signers, doubling the impact of their gifts.
