Point-of-Care Diagnostics

Evidence to Action (E2A) Webinar
Download Resource:

While the World Health Organization (WHO) recommends that all HIV-exposed infants receive a virological HIV test within two months of birth, only half had access to early infant HIV diagnostic (EID) screening in 2015, and almost 50% of infants who were tested never received the results. Fifty percent of children perinatally infected with HIV will die by their second birthday, with peak mortality risk occurring at just six to eight weeks of life.

Over the last three years, the Elizabeth Glaser Pediatric AIDS Foundation (EGPAF) has merged point-of-care (POC) technologies into EID national networks in nine countries; the results of this work have offered us a renewed perspective: POC diagnostics enhance our ability to easily test and treat more people living with HIV and other illnesses; linking all to same-day treatment.

In this iteration of the E2A webinar series, EGPAF POC field implementers and project managers will walk participants through the challenges and benefits of creating greater access to this game-changing innovation.
