Evaluation of a routine point-of-care intervention for early infant diagnosis of HIV

An observational study in eight African countries

Overview

This article, appearing in the Lancet in April 2019, presents the findings of an observational study comparing service delivery and clinical outcomes in eight countries (Cameroon, Côte d’Ivoire, Kenya, Lesotho, Mozambique, Rwanda, Eswatini, and Zimbabwe), before and after implementation of point-of-care technology to test and diagnose infants for HIV and link all eligible to early, lifesaving treatment.
