Prevalence of SARS-CoV-2, Trends and Circulating Variants during the African Cup of Nations: A Multisite Cross-sectional Survey in Cameroon

This cross-sectional prevalence survey, funded by FIND, aims to determine the SARS-CoV-2 case detection rate and describe the trends of SARS-CoV-2 positivity rate among attendees of the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) in Cameroon in January and February 2022 using SARS-CoV-2 Ag-RDT. Additionally, the study will explore the symptoms and factors associated with infection and examine SARS-CoV-2 variants among positive attendees. Results will be used to inform the MoH of a possible new COVID-19 ‘wave’ due to increased community transmission and contribute to national guidance following AFCON.
