Option B+ Means Treatment for Life

Lesotho, with assistance from EGPAF, was one of the first countries to adopt a new set of World Health Organization guidelines for treatment of pregnant women living with HIV. The new guidelines, referred to as “Option B+,” recommend that all pregnant or breastfeeding women who test HIV-positive be immediately enrolled on ART and remain on treatment for life.

Hope in a Bottle: Keeping Infants HIV-free Through Nutrition

EGPAF partners with the Rwandan government to study the prevention of mother-to-child transmission of HIV in 608 HIV-positive mothers and their children. The results of this, called the Kabeho study, could mean a revamping of public health policies around the world and thousands more children living an HIV-free life.
