I’m writing this message after a recent trip to Lesotho – a small country in the middle of South Africa, with the third-highest HIV prevalence rate in the world. Lesotho is called the African “Kingdom in the Sky” for a reason – its mountainous terrain poses constant challenges to the way we deliver critical and lifesaving services. Innovation is, and will continue to be, the key to our success there.

Noted photographer, filmmaker and Foundation Ambassador Nigel Barker will do a book signing this Saturday, October 16 at the second annual Fashion, Beauty & Lifestyle Expo in Washington, D.C. Also, Foundation Ambassador and POZ Magazine Editor-In-Chief Regan Hofmann joined author and longtime Foundation supporter Courtney Sheinmel at a reading and discussion of their respective books on October 12 at the National Arts Club in New York City.

Note From the Field: Foundation Helps Launch Study in South Africa and Zambia on HIV Drugs for Pregnant Women

In Africa, where the Foundation primarily works, women represent more than 60 percent of people receiving treatment. While ARVs are essential for protecting their own health and preventing transmission of the virus to their children, what potential effects do these drugs have on the infants in the womb? The Foundation helped launch a study in South Africa and Zambia just last week about this very topic. Dr. Richard Marlink reports.

Note From the Field: Global Fund Premieres Video Showcasing Foundation's Work in Kenya to Eliminate Pediatric HIV/AIDS

A video featuring the Foundation’s work fighting pediatric HIV/AIDS in Kenya premiered this week on the Global Fund’s website as part of its Born HIV Free campaign.
